About us
At present, the survey is comprised of more than a dozen active volunteers, ranging from university students to retirees, and with quite varied backgrounds. Everyone was a complete novice at identifying caterpillars when they joined the survey.

Richard Aaron, the survey's founder, has been involved with High Park for over two decades, including founding the High Park Moth Study (2016-2020), which recorded 1085 species of moths. He has also taught over two dozen adult workshops for the High Park Nature Centre (fungi, wildflowers, trees & shrubs), led walks for High Park Walking Tours, given presentations to the High Park Stewards, and wrote an interpretive sign about dragonflies for the High Park Natural Environment Committee, which stands next to Grenadier Pond (note: no author atrribution is provided on the sign). Over the years, Richard has done nature walks, talks, and workshops on a wide variety of topics for over 100 organizations, ranging from naturalist clubs to universities.
