About us
At present, the survey consists of just over a dozen enthusiastic volunteers, ranging widely in age and backgrounds. The one common denominator is that everyone was new to identifying caterpillars when they first started. We are always for new volunteers to join us.

Richard Aaron, the survey's founder, has been involved with High Park for over two decades, including founding the High Park Moth Study (2016-2020), which recorded 1085 species of moths. He has taught over two dozen adult workshops for the High Park Nature Centre (fungi, wildflowers, trees & shrubs, caterpillars), led nature walks for High Park Walking Tours, given presentations to the High Park Stewards, and wrote an interpretive sign about dragonflies for the High Park Natural Environment Committee, which stands next to Grenadier Pond (note: no author atrribution is provided on the sign). Over the years, Richard has done nature walks, talks, and workshops on a wide variety of topics for over 100 organizations, ranging from naturalist clubs to universities.
